Comox Valley Schools has a new superintendent who comes to the district after 14 years in Campbell River.
School District 71 says Dr. Jeremy Morrow is the new superintendent and CEO of Comox Valley Schools. He has spent the last five years as superintendent of Campbell River Schools.
He is taking over from former superintendent Tom Demeo who the district said “concluded his duties with Comox Valley Schools” in May while acting superintendent Geoff Manning took over.
The district says Morrow brings a lot of experience working in different settings, from rural environments, elementary and secondary levels, along with a Doctor of Education in educational leadership from Simon Fraser University.
He has also done UBC’s Transformative Educational Leadership Program.
SD71 board chairperson Michelle Waite says they are looking forward to working with Morrow, adding “his passion for student voice will [the] district empower [its] youth.”
Initiatives they will work on include framework for enhanced student learning, ongoing capital projects, the equity scan, Feeding Futures food programming and early stages of its strategic planning process.
