Comox Valley student program on lookout for host families

A local student program is looking for host families in the Comox Valley. The Comox Valley Schools’ International Student Program is a program that brings international students from multiple countries to the Valley for study.

For this year, over 250 students from 24 countries have been welcomed to local schools, while over 30 local students studied in Japan, Spain, Germany, and France.

Principal of the program Greg Kochanuk said along with bringing more diversity, international students provide contributions to the local economy.

“Some businesses benefiting include clothing stores, restaurants, local attractions, and we know dozens of students get season’s passes on Mt. Washington,” said Kochanuk.

As part of the program, the international students get both a monthly honorarium, and an opportunity to live with a local host family.
