Fire Hydrants to be installed on Courtenay neighborhood

New Fire Hydrants are on the way for a northern Courtenay neighborhood.

The hydrants will be installed in five locations along the Sandwick water distribution area, which includes Cliffe Road and Cotton Road, Oakridge Drive, Muir Road, and Cherry Ridge Drive.

Director of Engineering for the City Chris Davidson says these installations would help our water system meet regulatory standards for fire safety.

“The upgraded watermains will ensure we have the necessary water flow for the new fire hydrants,” says Davidson.

As part of the installations, the City said that construction will be taking place within the next coming weeks on the municipal road right-of-ways for each work site.

You should expect single-lane alternating traffic while the work runs, with the work set to last until November.
