Investigation continues on Cumberland Fire, Fire Hazard now Extreme

Still on word on the cause of that recent blaze in the Cumberland area, which wiped out the camping caretakers building at the Courtenay Fish and Game Club.

Cumberland Fire Chief Mike Williamson says they are zeroing in, on one specific area as their investigation continues…

And as for some social media speculation, an electrical fault sparked up the blaze…

Williamson confirms the building was fully insured, and the facility will be rebuilt.

Meanwhile Williamson says the fire danger rating has just taken another jump and many back country areas are now closed.

The fire hazard is now pegged at extreme at most areas of the South Coast.
