Walking and cycling in East Courtenay could get easier – construction of a new pathway has officially started.
The project will add a trail connection from Dingwall Road to Carmanah Drive, in the hopes of filling in a gap in the trail network for pedestrians and cyclists travelling to and from several spots in the City.
This includes North Island College, Queneesh Elementary School, North Island Hospital, and the commercial centre at Ryan and Lerwick Road.
The city says the project will have steel and concrete steps, rest areas, benches, a bike channel, trees, and landscaping.

The area between Dingwall and Carmanah will be closed during construction, which has started this month.
It’s expected to wrap up by the end of the year.
