There will be some disruption at the Comox Community Centre by tree removal work that started today.
The Town says they will be removing five pine trees because of the damage to the parking lot from tree roots, that were lifting and breaking both the asphalt and curbs.
The town adds the trees be replaced with eight new ones, with the new trees to be planted in another location.
Town mayor Nicole Minions says there were no options for saving and replanting the trees.
“However, the tree stumps will be reused, and woodchips will be repurposed at the disc golf location and for mulching tree wells throughout the Town’s parks system,” said Minions.
While three other trees are causing damage to the parking lot, they don’t require removal for now.
You may experience disruption in the centre’s parking lot as the trees get removed. Signs and updates will be provided onsite.
