A fundraiser to develop and keep the sound of music at the Glacier View Lodge for therapy will be held this weekend.
According to the lodge, The Grande Parade will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Comox Marina Park. It is a 2.5 km walk from the Marina to the Filberg Lodge and back that aims to fundraise for Glacier View Lodge.
They say Grande Parade walks take place across Canada on Sept. 16 and individuals, families, friends and businesses come to show support for seniors, raising funds locally.
This year, the lodge says their goal is to help fund the Music Therapy Program and initiatives to help develop Glacier View Lodge lands and continue its 75-year legacy.
“Music is one of the joys that provides great benefits to seniors, particularly those living with dementia,” the lodge said in a release.
“Walking on behalf of seniors is a wonderful way to support your community and a great team building opportunity enjoying light exercise combined with the spectacular local scenery.”
The lodge says all are welcome and there will be snacks for walkers and special guests to celebrate the sendoff and an opportunity to purchase local art on display with proceeds to support the lodge.
