A new chair and vice-chair have been selected to lead North Island College’s board of governors next year and are hoping to continue community impact.
The college says Patricia Trasolini will take over the chair position from Jane Atherton, who will continue to sit on the board as past chair.
A board member since 2019, they say Trasolini has a background in education as a teacher of English, law and public speaking. Trasolini adds that she wants to see the impact of North Island College continue with her at the helm.
“North Island College provides a rich, nurturing and multi-faceted learning environment that caters to the well-being of all its constituents,” said Trasolini.
“As I observed faculty and staff adapt and change to continue to deliver quality educational opportunities through the pandemic, I have been astounded at the dedication, passion and vision that permeates the culture of this institution.”
Trasolini also emphasized the college’s focus on Indigenization, international options, new ways to reach remote communities and new programs as signs that the college is meeting the needs of present and future work environments.
Shelley Dores has also been appointed as vice-chair. The college says she is a businesswoman and entrepreneur and also serves as the president of Campbell River’s Tidemark Theatre board of directors.
The board of governors oversees the college’s strategic direction and makes policy-level decisions to guide the organization.
