‘It still has not sunk in’: Courtenay man wins $1M in lotto draw

A Vancouver Island man says his recent lotto win will help out his son and let them take trips together they thought were out of reach.

Frederick Pelletier purchased the winning Lotto 6/49 ticket at a Shell Gas station in Courtenay. After travelling to visit his son, he arrived back on the Island to find he had won $1 million.

He adds that his wife called him a “liar” in disbelief, and the feeling still has not sunk in.

The money will help his son – whom he just visited – and also be used for travelling and adding to his investments.

“[This win] will change my son’s life,” said Pelletier. “We have thought about taking trips, now the things we discussed are more in reach.”
