Town of Comox offers to take old waste collection bins

Starting in January, Comox residents who have the new automatic waste collection carts can officially start filling them.

The town of Comox is offering to take the old bins from residents for free if they choose not to repurpose them.

You can drop off your old bins on Jan. 6 for drop off only and the 8 and 13 for drop off and pick up at the west parking lot at Comox Marina Park, between 9 am and 4 pm.

If you are planning to keep your cart the town suggests re-purposing it into a DIY planter or rain barrel, to keep it out of the landfill.

All containers dropped off must be empty and clean so others who are interested can take them for repurposing. Any leftover containers will recycled.

If you haven’t received the new automatic curbside collection carts you’re asked to contact Public Works.
