The Comox Valley Airport is expecting a busy holiday season and is offering tips to keep your travel experience as smooth as possible.
The airport says it expects over 1,000 passengers to pass through every day between Dec. 15 and Jan. 2 and the key to making travel smooth is to arrive early and be prepared:
- Check-in counters open two hours before flight departure. If you can, check-in online before you arrive and go straight to securing if you have no bags to checkÂ
- Make sure that your government-issued ID is valid and suitable for travelÂ
- Plan your transportation to the airport in advance. Ask a friend for a ride, or pre-book a ride-share through Coastal Rides or pick up from a local taxi companyÂ
- Understand your airline’s baggage limits and security rules for both checked and carry-on bagsÂ
- Avoid wrapping your presents until you get to your destination or use gift bags for easy security screeningÂ
Parking lots can also get full during the busiest travel days and if you can, the airport asks you to get someone to drive you to the airport.
If you need to park, up-to-date information can be found on the airport’s website.Â
