RCMP are continuing an investigation relating to a large police presence addressing a potential firearms situation Saturday morning.
According to RCMP, the emergency response team and Comox Valley RCMP executed a warrant at around 9 o’clock in the 2300-block of Urquhart Avenue. They say the effort was coordinated with members of the emergency response team, major crime unit and special victims’ unit.
Officers executed the warrant because of reported criminal offences. Media relations officer Cst. Monika Terragni says their responses take the highest amount of caution when firearms could be involved.
Terragni adds that the operation was successful with minimal disruptions and no injuries.
The integrated forensic identification section gathered more evidence at the scene. Officers say all parties have been identified and there is no immediate risk to the community.
