There has been some fresh snow on Mount Washington to welcome the first ski weekend of the new year, but the base is still pretty thin.
That’s not stopping what mountain staff expect to be a busy weekend. Mount Washington received three centimetres of new snow last night and eight over the last 24 hours, bringing the base at the Hawk chair up to 46 centimetres. It’s a perfect day for skiing, with sub-zero temperatures, low winds and clear skies.
Everything is open today except the Boomerang Quad. Tubing and night skiing will go until 9 pm.
The shuttle buses are available for snow seekers who don’t want to deal with traffic on the mountain road.
