Good news for bus riders, the union representing drivers in the Comox Valley and Campbell River is headed back to mediated talks later this month.
Gavin Davies with Unifor says it’s a positive development.
“We’re back at the table on the 24th and 25th,” he says.
The union says the issues remain the same, with wages the main sticking point in negotiations. The union is pushing for a $5 per hour increase to put drivers, cleaners and mechanics at the same level as transit workers in other similar-sized communities.
The handyDART service has been deemed essential for customers with appointments related to medical needs and will continue to operate during this service disruption.
Transit in both communities is provided by PWTransit, which operates under contract with BC Transit.
