Starting next week, you can provide feedback to the Comox Valley Regional District for its 2024-2028 financial planning process.
It is part of a yearly process for the district, which updates its financial plan for the next five years and outlines each service’s operational and capital requirements and the province requires them.
The district says each service is reviewed and budgets are created based on approved work plans, organizational priorities and sound financial practices.
The public is encouraged to view the following budget presentations:
- Proposed budget delivered to the CVRD Board – Jan. 23
- CVRD Board, Electoral Areas Services Committee and Black Creek-Oyster Bay – Feb. 5, 6, 7
- Sewer, Water, Recreation, Regional Parks – Feb. 13
You can also get involved by visiting the Engage Comox Valley page where the financial planning process is explained, and feedback opportunities are available.
“Budget presentations will occur until Feb. 13 and we encourage questions, comments and feedback on the financial plans for all our services,” said CVRD chief financial officer Lucy Wiwcharuk.
“Public feedback will be provided to CVRD directors and responses will be given for each question. To align with the budget schedule, public feedback is encouraged before 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21.”
After the presentations are done, any changes or updates requested by the board will be incorporated into the budget bylaw, with review of any public comments.
The recommended bylaw will be presented for first, second and third readings on March 12, and presented for adoption on March 19.
