Even though it looked like the weather might cancel a robotics tournament, Comox Valley Schools says Robotics71 teams had remarkable results at a recent tournament.
Comox Valley Schools says the competition at Claremont Secondary in Saanich saw intense battles, with great success. Team 7842P delivered a suspenseful performance, tying with their opponents in the quarterfinals before winning in the rematch.
The win secured them second place in the tournament. The school district adds Team 7842X got first place with an alliance with Shawnigan Lake.
However, SD71’s leading team, 7842A, was defeated during the elimination rounds to an eighth-ranked alliance from Shawnigan Lake.
Despite this, Team 7842A got the Design Award, 7842F got the Amaze Award and 7842X got the Build Award for five trophies and a fulfilling day in Victoria.
“Special thanks are extended to the gracious hosts at Claremont Secondary School, as well as to numerous sponsors, parents, bus drivers, judges, referees, and event coordinators, all of whom played crucial roles in the success of this competition,” said the district.
The next tournament is on Feb. 10 on Saltspring Island.
