With Family Day weekend around the corner, the Comox Valley Regional District, municipalities and Filberg Heritage Park are inviting you out for some family fun.
Filberg Heritage Park:
Events are running all weekend at Filberg Park. QR codes can be found throughout the park where you can learn about some of its trees, and the “I Spy” brochure lets you find all the pictures within the park.
Other events include lodge tours between 12 and 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and Lace Makers and Comox Valley Logging History on Family Day between 1 and 3 p.m.
Heritage Week also runs from Feb. 19 to 25, and its social media will have new pieces of the park’s history posted each day.
CVRD:
Two free events will be put on by the CVRD on Monday. An all-ages skate and swim will be on at the Comox Valley Sports Centre. If you want to skate, you can between 1 and 3 p.m., or you can swim between 1 and 5 p.m.
The Comox Valley Exhibition Grounds will also host a Family Day community event between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. There will be active game stations, a craft table, a pool noodle pony jump course, a scavenger hunt, riding demos and pony rides.
The Therapeutic Riding Society will also be there with hot refreshments and snacks for donations.
LINC Youth Centre:
The LINC Youth Centre will also be offering ping pong, air hockey, foosball and a pool table and other areas will be set up with video and board games and more.
They add the skate park will be available and magic shows from Greg Ladret will be done at 12:30 and 3 p.m.
Lewis Centre:
Family gymnastics will be on at the Lewis Centre’s indoor playground between 10:15 a.m. and 3:35 p.m. for half-hour sessions.
Storytelling with Verna and Bannock will also be on at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
You can try line dancing between 11 and 11:30 a.m. and family Zumba will be on from 1 – 1:30 p.m. and 2 – 2:30 p.m.
Town of Comox:
The Comox Community Centre will also be open for activities, games and snacks featuring an inflatable centre, story corner, face painting, magic show and more between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
