No injuries were reported in an early morning fire that is now under investigation by Courtenay Fire Department and RCMP.
Lt. Ian Robertson of Courtenay Fire says they were called to the blaze at around 1:45 in the Mcphee Avenue and 17th Street area. He says they found the home “well involved” in the blaze, starting at the carport into the home.
Twenty-two crew members and three fire engines were able to quickly knock down the fire, and the residents were able to get out of the home safely.
Robertson adds the department and RCMP are now investigating the cause.
