UPDATE: Denman Island cable ferry still down, shuttle service in place

The cable ferry from Buckley Bay to Denman Island is still broken, and unlikely to be fixed tonight.

BC Ferries has been using the Hornby to Denman ferry to provide temporary shuttle service throughout the day, that route is back to normal service as of this afternoon. It will be back on shuttle duty this evening at 7 pm.

Meanwhile BC Ferries is working to fix the cable for the Baynes Sound Connector, which has been out of service since first thing this morning.

The connector is the only cable ferry in the fleet, and is the longest cable ferry crossing in the world at nearly 2,000 metres.

BC Ferries says an update on the repairs will come later this evening.
