Cheap community e-bike rentals are now available in the Comox Valley.
The Evolve E-Bike share program was recently launched on Vancouver Island, aiming to lower greenhouse gases by encouraging people to use the bikes for short trips around town.
Following its successful launch in Nanaimo, the BCAA is expanding the program to the Valley.
Manager of transit and facilities for the Comox Valley Regional District Mike Zbarsky says this program can help in the district’s goal of lowering greenhouse emissions.
“We know this program has worked in other communities – to get people out of their vehicles for short trips around town and establish a new active transportation habit, and we can’t wait to offer this opportunity here,” said Zbarsky.
The bikes are now available through 20 parking zones in Courtenay and Comox, including zones at the Comox Valley Art Gallery, Courtenay District Museum, and Filberg park.
The town of Comox says you can get the bikes through the Evo App, where it can find the nearest one and you can book it just by selecting a pin or by scanning the bikes QR code.
Rides are 35 cents per minute, totaling $12.99 a month.
