BC to fly healthcare patients with air ambulances

A new fleet of air ambulances will help transport patients to hospital from remote communities.

In a release on Friday, the province announced that BC Emergency Health Services will be getting 12 Beechcraft King Air 360CHW air ambulances, with nine of them to be used regularly while the rest are backups.

The goal of these planes is to get people the healthcare they need quickly, according to Minister of Health Adrian Dix.

“Upgrading B.C.’s fleet with next-generation airplanes means patients will have improved comfort and care during transport, while paramedics benefit from consistent features and layout across the fleet,” said Dix.

The province says they can land on gravel runways, have expanded capabilities for care, and will have paramedics to treat you during the flight

The first air ambulances went into service on May 1.
