New elementary school classrooms are on the way to Comox Valley.
The BC Government announced today that Aspen Park Elementary will receive more student spaces to expand schools faster.
MLA for Courtenay-Comox Ronna-Rae Leonard said getting these new classrooms is a major success for the growing Comox Valley community.
“I am thrilled that students in the Comox Valley will soon have safe and modern classrooms that families in our growing community need.”
Aspen Park will get an 11-classroom prefabricated addition, making way for 270 new seats in the school.
The upgrades allow classrooms to have more modern learning environments which include classrooms connected by corridors.
The investment is projected to cost around $16.5 million and adds on to the $37 million invested in Comox Valley schools in the last six years.
Previous upgrades included the partial replacement of Lake Trail Middle school and building of the new Hornby Lake Elementary school.
