Comox Valley Community Foundation announces $450,000 in funding for local non-profits

Non-profits in the Comox Valley will soon be able to apply for grants to access more funding.

More than $450,000 will be available to the non-profit sector thanks to the Comox Valley Community Foundation’s next granting programs.

Executive Director of the foundation Jolean Finnerty said the funding is possible thanks to the generosity of individuals in the community.

“It’s an honour to steward these gifts back into the community where they can immediately support organizations who are working to make a difference every single day.”

Four grants will be available with different amounts of funding for community enrichment, housing and homelessness, environment and conservation, and adults with diverse abilities grants.

$300,000 will be available for community enrichment grants that prioritize mental health and connection, food insecurity and systems, or equity, diversity, and inclusion.

$50,000 in grant money will be made available to housing and homelessness support, environment and conservation, and adults with diverse abilities grants.

The 2024 Non-Profit Sector Survey helped identify these areas as the top needs for the community.

The online application portal for the community enrichment grants opens Monday, August 19, and will be distributed between August 2024 and March 2025.
