The second annual Comox Valley Pride Weekend is underway.
The event features a parade along 5th Street and a park event at Simms Park on Saturday August 24, and a pride swim happening at the CVRD Sports and Aquatic Centre on Sunday August 25.
The Parade down 5th Street starts at noon and will require temporary road closures through Downtown Courtenay and the 5th Street Bridge.
5th Street from Johnston Avenue to Comox Road will fully close at 11 a.m., reopening no later than 1:30 p.m. and will restrict parking along 5th Street before the road closure.
Following the Parade, Pride in the Park starts and lasts until 4 p.m. with live music, vendors, and a kids zone available for everyone.
The Pride Swim happens the next day from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and is welcome to everyone.
All municipal halls raised Pride flags on Friday to celebrate and support the weekend.
