Coastal Fire Centre lifting fire ban on Vancouver Island

All fire restrictions are being lifted on Vancouver Island according to the BC Wildfire Service.

Starting at noon on September 18, all Category two and three fire restrictions will be lifted.

Category two and three fires include piles of three or more exceeding two metres in height and three metres in width.

Fireworks, sky lanterns, binary exploding targets, burn barrels, and air curtain burners will be allowed as part of the restriction lift.

The majority of Vancouver Island has a low chance of fires starting, and only one current fire happening near Sooke but being held.

While chances of fires starting are low, the Coastal Fire Centre is still urging people to remain cautious with all types of fires.
