Multiple upcoming road closures announced as part of the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project

The next wave of road closures schedule has been released for the Comox Valley Sewer Conveyance Project. 

From October 7 to 11, the intersection of Beaufort Avenue and Jane Place will close for the installation of two large valve chambers, closing Beaufort Avenue from Stewart Street to Nordin Street except to residents. 

From October 11 to 25, Beaufort Avenue from Jane Place to Nordin Street will close for installation of a new sewer forcemain pipe. 

Work on both projects takes place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday, with detours planned with support from traffic control personnel.

The Vancouver Island Regional Library along Beaufort will remain open despite construction however the public is asked to park outside the construction zone. 

From October 7 to 16, Lazo and Guthrie Road’s intersection will close. 

Then from October 17 to November 18, Lazo Road will be closed from Guthrie Road to Balmoral Road while the section from Brent Road to Guthrie will remain open before it closes. 

Work will take place on these projects from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday with additional details in place being supported by traffic control personnel.

Lazo Road will be accessible only to residents and anyone who doesn’t have property on the affected roads will be asked to use alternative routes. 

Workdays will conclude with open excavation sections being fully fenced off and signage being put in place for detour routes. 

Additional paving projects are also scheduled to take place, with Balmoral Avenue undergoing preparation on October 7, forcing traffic to be single lane alternating through the intersections of Stewart Street and Balmoral Avenue, and Pritchard Road and Balmoral Avenue. 

Paving will take place on October 8 and 9, with intersections along Balmoral Avenue being closed.

Paving takes place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. from Monday to Friday, and detour routes will be marked by signage and supported by traffic control personnel. 

Additional travel time is expected for all commuters and the CVRD said everyone should plan their routes accordingly.
