Second annual charity hockey game featuring Glacier Kings vs first responders announced

A massive charity hockey game is making its return for a second year.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings will battle a team mixed of first responders and Canadian Armed Forces members on December 6 at 6:30 p.m. at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.

Sgt. Rob Brennan was a runner for the Wounded Warrior Run BC last year and said last year’s event had an overwhelming amount of support.

“The funds raised stayed right here on Vancouver Island, helping veterans, first responders, and their families feel supported, understood, and not alone.  We can’t wait to see the same incredible energy this year.”

Last year’s game was a full sellout, raising over $21,000 for the community, a target looking to be exceeded this year.

All funds this year will go to Vancouver Island programs focused on supporting trauma exposed people and families that serve in uniform to help navigate struggles with mental health.

The game will feature an opening ceremony, emergency vehicles, silent auctions, information booths, mascots, a duck toss, and a 50/50 draw and all proceeds will go to Wounded Warriors Canada.

Tickets for the game can be purchased at Happy’s Source for Sports, the Comox Valley RCMP Detachment, or CANEX.
