The public safety advisory for parts of Puntledge River will be extending to other sections.
That comes from BC Hydro, announcing they will increase discharge from the Comox Dam to 45 cubic meters per second tonight.
Along with the increase, the advisory, which covers Barber’s Hole and Nymph Falls, will now include the section of the river downstream of the powerhouse.
Public Affairs Coordinator Karla Louwers says the Comox Lake Reservoir is 134.1 metres above sea-level, a 2.4 metre increase since October 18.
“Inflows into the reservoir will peak around 85 m3/s today and then begin to decrease until Friday when there is a chance for another moderate response to a series of weather systems extending into early next week,” said Louwers.
“Precipitation and flows are forecast to be above normal over the next 7-10 days.”
Louwers adds, they will update the community if there’s any big change in weather or operations, with the river flows to be maintained through at least November 15.
In the meantime, Hydro asks you to avoid the higher flows along the river.
