The Town of Comox wants your thoughts on saunas from the Comox Community Centre in a survey.
In a public notice earlier this week, the Town says they plan on replacing the infrared saunas in the Comox Community Centre because they are at the end of their life cycle. Infared saunas are saunas that use light to make heat.
This comes following a staff report to mayor and council on the November 20 council meeting, where Recreation Director Ted Hagmeier says a contractor found no option to repair the saunas.
“Full replacement is the only option if we wish to continue offering this service,” said Hagmeier.
“The contractor’s estimate to install new infrared saunas in both change rooms is $76,000. Administration estimate $10,000 of additional work by Facilities staff and contractors will be required for tiling and electrical. Total cost is estimated at $86,000.”
They say before deciding on bringing new saunas, a survey has opened for you to share input.
The survey will allow you to give your thoughts on the saunas, with the Town adding they will use the feedback make the best choice for the community Centre.
Survey ballots can be filled in at the Centre’s reception desk until December 3.
