RCMP say a man who was stabbed over the weekend is in critical, but stable, condition after a weekend altercation in Port Alberni.
Police responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 3000 block of 4th Avenue where they say the victim was found with multiple stab wounds.
Shortly after the incident police were able to apprehend a suspect they say was involved in the stabbing and charged them with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.
Inspector Kim Bruce says although BCEHS was delayed, police were able to respond quickly and transport the victim to hospital.
“Our members made critical decisions and acted swiftly to get the victim the lifesaving medical attention he needed,” Bruce says.
A search warrant has been executed for the suspect, and police say the investigation is still ongoing.
