Three Port Alberni men face charges for sexual offences against minors

Three men in Port Alberni face multiple charges in connection with sexual offences involving minors.

Port Alberni RCMP’s General Investigation Section began investigating the allegations in 2020 and were finally able to get charges laid on January 7, 2025.

Shaun Pater has been charged with 15 counts in relation to sexual offences on minors including trafficking of persons under the age of 18.

Terrance Houbregs and Wayne Moore have each been charged with six counts involving sexual offences on minors.

All men cannot have any contact, be in the presence, be in a public area, or a daycare, school, or playground where anyone under the age of 16 is known to be present.

Police are reminding people sexual assault complaints can be made at any time and urge people to come forward if they are a victim.

No further updates can be provided as the matter is now in the hands of the courts.
