The Village of Cumberland could take part in a Valley-wide recreation program.
In a letter, The Comox Valley Regional District Recreation Commission is asking mayor and council to take part in developing an Amenity Cost Contribution Program, one that focuses on recreation-specific infrastructure.
The program’s goal is to bring fair contributions across the region while balancing the need to avoid overburdening any development opportunities.
The commission says district staff are making a draft version of the program and are looking for support from municipal councils and the Electoral Areas Services Committee for this project.
They also say those taking part will be in four meetings before this October, help with gathering and organizing data and potential calculations, and possibly interview a consultant.
The commission hopes to hear back from the Village by the end of this month.
The request will be part of tonight’s council meeting, starting at 5:30 p.m.
