CVRD announces plans to celebrate transit workers and operators

Ahead of Transit Worker and Operator Appreciation Day on March 18, the Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) has announced plans to celebrate their transit workers.

Transit users are encouraged to post photos or kind words to social media using #ThanksTransit to show their appreciation to operators and workers around the Comox Valley.

CVRD Manager of Transit and Facilities Mike Zbarsky said lots of changes to the transit system have been made in the past year and it wouldn’t be possible without their transit workers.

“We want to make sure our transit workers know how grateful we are for their dedication to providing great service to residents and visitors in our region.”

Changes to the transit system in the past year have included a new connection at Deep Bay to the Nanaimo Regional Transit Service, implementing the UMO card and scanner onboard buses, and implementing route changes to support the sewer conveyance project.

Users can also submit stories online here about positive transit interactions with a chance to be featured on BC Transit’s social media channels.
