On August 26th police received a report of a break, enter and theft to a residence on the 1100 block of Braidwood road in Courtenay. Entry was gained through an unlocked open window. The home owners had been out of the home for about 4 ½ hours when the break in had occurred. Cash and some children’s toys were missing. This investigation is continuing.
Police received a report of a theft of a pet rabbit from a cage that was in the yard of a residence on the 1500 block of Dogwood Avenue in Comox on the morning of August 29th. Unknown culprit had cut the wire on the cage to gain access to the rabbit. The rabbit is described as being about 8 pounds in weight and has long white hair.
During the early morning hours of August 29th police located a parked car with a single occupant seated in the driver’s seat. When questioned a strong odour of alcohol was smelled. The results of this vehicle stop were to give the driver a 90 day Immediate Roadside Prohibition from driving and the vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.
Police were called to a break, enter and theft from a residence on the 6100 block of Headquarters road in Courtenay on August 29th. Entry was gained through an unlocked open second story window. Stolen was Canadian currency, collectible coins and electronics.
On the evening of August 30th police entered into a break, enter and theft complaint on the 2000 block of Quenville road in Courtenay. Thieves entered by the unlocked garage door and then continued on into the residence. Once inside they made off with Canadian currency, electronics and three western style saddles.
On August 30th police received a report of a theft of a motor vehicle from a residence located on the 3500 block of Dove Creek road in Courtenay. The 1989 White Chevy van with BC plate 1320YX had a ¼ tank of fuel at the time it was stolen.
On the morning of August 31st police entered into a break, enter and theft investigation at a construction site at the Courtenay elementary school on the 1500 block of McPhee avenue in Courtenay. Sometime over the week-end unknown thieves broke into the trailer on the site and stole several power tools belonging to the school district.
Police received a report of a hit and run causing damage during the early evening of August 31st. The investigation revealed that a smaller black Honda Prelude car ran into a BC Hydro transformer box, a Canada post community mail box and a fence and then fled the scene. This investigation is continuing.
