Swimming across the Pacific Ocean sounds pretty crazy, right?
Well it’s exactly what long distance swimmer Ben Lecomte is planning on doing.
The French-born athlete is on Vancouver Island getting set for the big trek. He says the support boat that will follow him on his swim is being prepped in Campbell River.
Lecomte says that with this journey, he’s looking to raise awareness and educate people that what we do on land affects the ocean and the environment.
Lecomte will be channeling Aquaman, as he will cover around 55-hundred miles, going from Tokyo to San Francisco. He adds as tough as it will be, the swim is all about mind over matter.
Lecomte is set to start the swim at the end of September. For more information on his current adventure and his past journeys, including a trek across the Atlantic, visit thelongestswim.com.
