No doubt this recent incident over the lunch hour back on July 18, shows how crucial it is for residents to keep their wits about them while out enjoying the Puntledge River. BC Hydro spokesperson Stephen Watson has details on an accidental water discharge downstream.
Meanwhile as BC Hydro technicians toil away trying to minimize the impacts of these record dry conditions, those calm water flows are pretty much ideal for tubers who have been coming from far and wide to hit the Puntledge River in the Comox Valley.
Watson says several fish did perish in that recent accidental discharge on the Puntledge, but fortunately nobody was swept up in the surging current from that ordeal.
