The Comox Valley Regional District’s South Sewer Project partners have hammered out an agreement on a governance structure for the massive multi-million dollar project. Goat News spoke with Kris La Rose, Manager of Liquid Waste Planning.
La Rose says agreement on the governance structure, including the Comox First Nations, is a major development for the South Sewer Project.
La Rose says about 35 percent of the funding required for the project is now in place, but efforts are ongoing to nail down more funds including both provincial and federal dollars. The project would initially focus on homes in the core area of Royston and possibly Union Bay, where septic systems will be dismantled and homes in those areas hooked up to a state of the art central sewer system, including a new waste water treatment plant.
