Courtenay Air Quality Advisory Lifted

The Ministry of Health and Climate Change Strategy, in collaboration with Island Health, have lifted the air quality advisory for the City of Courtenay. Meteorologist Earle Plain says air quality has improved enough in the past few days to end the advisory.

Open burning may now be conducted without a permit or approval from the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy provided that activity is in agreement with the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation, Environmental Management Act.

All open burns have to also comply with Municipal open burning bylaws where a bylaw exists, according to a release sent out this morning.
