Courtenay council resolved to allow an Evangelical free church to be constructed in the city at their meeting on Tuesday.
Mayor Larry Jangula says this has been in the works for a while. In fact, the group had purchased the land, and gone through the necessary public hearings back in 2005, then decided to hold off on the project.
“Basically, the public have had their input, the neighbors and residents know that this has been on the books for some time, and now it’s going to happen,” says Mayor Jangula.
The church will be put up on the 2700 block of Inverclyde way, and will include 129 parking spaces.
