There’s a reason the promised open house on the controversial Merville water bottling operation hasn’t happened yet.
The Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development says its because the licensing decision is still before the Environmental Appeal Board. The ministry says that means an open-house will be delayed until further notice. It’ll only be scheduled once the outcome of the appeal is known.
In the meantime Courtenay-Comox MLA Ronna-Rae Leonard said in a release she has been “personally assured” that the meeting will happen as soon as the legal issues are resolved. She added that ensuring our drinking water is protected is a priority for her.
