COMOX, B.C. – That’s a wrap – the Harbourwood Park Improvement Project is officially complete.
This playground renewal project, identified in the Town’s five-year capital improvement plan, has a $120,000 price tag. The Comox Valley Lions Club contributed $50,000, with monies going towards the purchase of playground features.
Among the new features are a Weevos play system designed for two- to- five-year-olds, an Eclipse Net Climber with polyester-wrapped, steel-core climbing cables, a friendship swing, and a TopsyTurny Spinner.
Park benches and new signage will be installed in the near future.
On July 4, Town of council members joined representatives of the Comox Valley Lions Club and Town staff to celebrate the completion of the park improvements. Joining members of Council and the Comox Valley Lions Club were residents and their children who reside in the immediate area.
“Members of the Comox Valley Lions Club are very pleased to be in this partnership with the Town of Comox, to provide service to our community,” said the club’s Past President, Bob Scales. “This partnership allows the Club to do more with the funds we raise and allowed us to contribute to the much needed improved equipment in Harbourwood Park.”
Comox Mayor Paul Ives said continuing to improve the Town’s many recreational opportunities “is a strategic priority of Council, and this improvement project continues to exemplify Councils ongoing commitment in providing quality play opportunities for its residents.”
“Once again, the generous contribution from the Comox Valley Lions Club, allowed Council to move forward with this playground renewal project.”
