CUMBERLAND, B.C. – At the end of this month, the village of Cumberland will host an annual awareness campaign.
From September 30th to October 8th, the Red Dress installation will be at Peace Park to honour murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls.
Anyone who would like to show support for the cause can simply hang up a red dress in their front yard, place of business or store front.
The opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, September 29th at 12:00 p.m. at Cumberland’s Peace Park (the intersection of Fourth Street, Third Street and Ulverston Avenue). The Kumugwe Society, IHOS Gallery representatives and the Comox Valley Transition Society will be on hand for the event.
For traffic safety, the village is asking drivers to avoid parking on Fourth Street.
