HORNBY ISLAND, B.C. – Hornby Island Fire Rescue welcomed firefighters from across the province to honour the life of one of their own.
Former Chief Gifford LaRose passed away at the beginning of December.
He was a 20-year member of the department and served 15 years as chief.
LaRose retired in 2017.
According to the department, hundreds of islanders and fire service personnel from Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and Sunshine Coast attended the memorial on Hornby Island to celebrate LaRose’s life and dedication to the service.
