Heavy weather bringing major ferry cancellations

NANAIMO, B.C- BC Ferries is anticipating more bad weather later tonight and the last round trips for multiple major routes between Vancouver Island and the mainland have been cancelled.

The cancellations include:

Queen of Coquitlam:  9:35 pm departing Langdale and the 10:55 pm departing Horseshoe Bay.

Queen of Capilano: 10:00 pm departing Horseshoe Bay and 10:30 pm departing Snug Cove.

Queen of Alberni:  8:15 pm departing Duke Point- 10:45 pm departing Tsawwassen

Coastal Inspiration: 8:15 pm departing Duke Point-10:45 pm departing Tsawwassen

Queen of Cowichan: 8:45 pm departing Departure Bay-10:50 pm departing Horseshoe Bay

Coastal Celebration: 7:00 pm departing Swartz Bay cancelled, 9:00 pm departing Tsawwassen cancelled

Spirit of British Columbia: 7:00 pm departing Tsawwassen cancelled, 9:00 pm departing Swartz Bay cancelled

There have been no cancellations for any ferries between north of Nanaimo.

“The safety of our passengers and crew is of primary importance to us,” said the ferry service, in their cancellation announcement.

“We don’t take the decision to cancel sailings lightly, as we know customers rely on us to get to their destinations. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience experienced as a result of this cancellation.”
