Project Watershed looks to improve and stabilize habitats for water life. Acting Estuary Coordinator Jennifer Sutherst lays out plans the group has for the Courtenay Airpark Lagoon.
She says there isn’t any decent circulation in the lagoon and conditions are not ideal for fish.
Courtenay mayor Larry Jangula is in favour of this project and says it’s a great way to correct mistakes of the past regarding the lagoon.
He says it’s an excellent proposal, and that the project will enhance the salmon habitat in the lagoon and get it back to what it was in the 1950s. So far, the group has secured over half of the project funding and hopes to have it completed by the end of the summer this year.
