COURTENAY, BC- Contractors will be clearing catch basins throughout Courtenay starting next Monday.
Work will take place on weekdays between 7:30 am and 4:00 pm.
Some delays should be expected.
Over one thousand will be cleared of debris such as sludge, dirt, sand, gravel, and other materials that may have deposited over the years.

Storm drains lead directly into local waterways and sometimes directly into fish habitats.
The drains are only meant to carry storm water.
Nothing else should be poured down a storm drain, especially motor or cooking oils, paint, or other chemicals.
