COURTENAY, BC- Too Good To Be Threw is celebrating their grand opening.
The thrift store is at their new location on #1-239 Puntledge Road. The celebration will be going on until 5:00pm today.
In January the original downtown location burnt down.
“It devastated the thrift store and shut us down completely. People lost jobs over it. It was a huge revenue generator for the Comox Valley Transition Society,” said Heather Ney, executive director of the Comox Valley Transition Society.
The community of Comox Valley rallied behind the Transition Society by giving all kinds of donations.
“We are really happy with a lot of help from the community to find another site and open up so quickly.”
Ney thanked the Comox Rotary who built fitting rooms, the office as well as giving funds for those materials.
She also thanked the retailers who donated fixtures they were no longer using in their own stores.
“I am really proud of how hard the staff has worked to get the store open again,” thanked Ney.
Ney is thrilled with all the support the community his consistently given the shop.
“We are thrilled with the turn out today, it’s been consistent traffic throughout the store. We are seeing news faces which is great!”
The store has cake, tea and a 50/50 draw available for anyone who will be stopping by the store today.
“The community stepped up and rallied in a huge way for the Transition Society since the fire and we are so, so grateful.” said Ney.
