COURTENAY, B.C- A school principal in Courtenay is warning parents after a stranger approached two kids on Monday afternoon.
According to an email sent by Brian Goodwin, the principal of Arden Elementary, two female students were approached by a man while biking home after school. The man was in a beige SUV, asking where they lived.
The girls didn’t answer, and kept biking with the SUV following them. When they got home, they informed their mother what happened, who went into the cul-du-sac where the SUV was. The man then drove off.
This incident had been in the area of Bood Road.
According to the email, both the RCMP and School District 71 have been informed, as have neighbouring schools. All staff have been told to talk to classes about strangers today.
Residents of the Valley should keep an eye out for the vehicle.
The school district confirmed the contents of the email, and said that they are always on the lookout for suspicious behaviour. Students are being encouraged to buddy up.
The district also thanked the girl’s mother for immediately reporting what had taken place.
