COURTENAY, B.C- More details have been released about the man who approached two young girls on their way home from school this week.
According to the principal of Arden Elementary, two female students were approached by a man while biking home after school. The man was in a beige SUV, asking where they lived.
The girls didn’t answer, and kept biking with the SUV following them. When they got home, they informed their mother what happened, who went into the cul-du-sac where the SUV was. The man then drove off, before the mother could speak with him.
This incident had been in the area of Bood Road.
Police have now said that the incident took place around 2:30 p.m. The man was parked on 1st Street in Courtenay, along Bood Road. The man had been standing by his vehicle, when he tried to engage the girls in conversation.
The pair were on their bicycles at the time, and believe they heard the man ask them where they lived before he got into his vehicle and followed them home.
According to Constable Monika Terragni, spokesperson for the Comox Valley RCMP, the man is described as older, with white/greying hair.
The SUV was described as a bigger, light beige vehicle.
The police are looking for any witnesses to the encounter.

The school district has said that they are always on the lookout for suspicious behaviour. Students are being encouraged to buddy up.
The district also thanked the girl’s mother for immediately reporting what had taken place.
Residents of the Valley should keep an eye out for the vehicle, and the man.
