The votes are in, and depending on some funding, the 5th Street Bridge in Courtenay will be repainted! It’s a move that some say is long overdue.
Here’s Mayor Larry Jangula on a couple of options discussed at this week’s council meeting and with what was decided on.
Members of Courtenay council are pleased with the decision…except for Councilor Erik Eriksson. He’d prefer that an entirely brand new bridge be built.
Funds are still needed to recoat the 5th Street Bridge. Council’s willing to cover 1/3Â of the contributions needed, but are looking to secure the rest from the Building Canada Fund grant program to complete the $2.2 million project.
